How to prepare child actors in Hollywood

But if everything is quite simple with babies: their task is to be silent or cry at the right moment, then with children a little older the task becomes more complicated. Some of them appear in films of such genres that they are difficult for adults. For example, in horror, thrillers, dramas. Do you remember, for example, the children from “Omen“ or ”Pet Cemetery"? There are also very psychologically difficult roles - a child who has lost loved ones, or has mental health problems. How does the preparation of a small actor take place before filming? Firstly, great attention is paid to the mental comfort of the performer of the role. Parents are constantly present with him on the site, psychologists work with him, who offer their own solutions. For example, in horror films, children are “introduced” to monsters in advance - so that the kids are convinced: there are no monsters or villains - there is only a made-up actor or even a doll. If the monster is “finished” with the help of computer technology, the problem disappears altogether. The most important thing in the process is to provide children with a comfortable atmosphere on the playground. They should feel protected, first of all. Often the filming process is presented to them as an interesting game. But the game is not easy and serious, where a lot depends on each participant! This is how the young star learns a responsible attitude to the common cause, while avoiding stress and tension.
