How to combine filming and school

Образование юного актёра | 03.10.2024
This is not an idle question for young actors and their parents. The filming process is laborious, tied to tight deadlines and locations. Even adult actors involved in several projects have to adjust to the filming schedule.

But what about the school? Getting an education in our country is mandatory, it's like a child's “job”. You have to sacrifice... of course, the school. It happens that children drop out of the educational process for a long time and then have to catch up with their classmates, studying hard at odd hours. There are cases when young actors have not been able to re-integrate into their former familiar lives.

This, for example, happened to Igor Shulzhenko, the performer of the role of Slavka Eldarov in the films “Dirk” and “The Bronze Bird". Igor studied at a very good school in Minsk, did well in the program. Filming took place during the year in completely different places - in Grodno and Vilnius. It did not work out in local schools, and Igor was never able to catch up with his peers in the curriculum afterwards. As a result, this influenced his future life: he never became a professional actor, did not receive higher education and lived his life quite differently from what he saw and dreamed of in childhood.

So little actors, as well as their older relatives, should not let things take their course when it comes to studying. First of all, it is worth discussing this issue together, to clarify for yourself how important participation in filming is in principle. After all, the fact that a child was invited to a role does not mean at all that he will certainly become an actor in the future. Perhaps this is just a one-time episode in his life.

You have jointly decided that filming is important and you want to participate in the creation of the film. If the schedule of filming and studying categorically do not coincide (most likely, it will), then a conversation with school teachers is necessary. They can meet halfway, engage with the child additionally and explain to him incomprehensible questions of the school curriculum. If not, then the last thing remains: to invite tutors in school subjects.

Nowadays, there is a fairly large selection of teachers who can help a young actor keep up with the program. This is exactly what happens to the young stars of modern Russian cinema, Kai Getz and Vladimir Yagalov.  By the way, the child himself must understand how important studying is for him, and in between filming and rehearsals he should study independently. This, of course, requires discipline and strength of character. And this is another plus of the situation: the future star will be able to develop such important personality traits for the future.
